Ryzen 9000 series processors appear

Ryzen 9000 series processors:

Reliable sources have circulated the first image of the new Ryzen 9000 series of desktop processors from AMD, which is considered the next step in its development of computer devices. This highly anticipated series is called Granite Ridge, and is built on the powerful Zen 5 architecture technology.

The Ryzen 9000 series is considered the successor to the Ryzen 7000 series known as Raphael, which was based on the Zen 4 architecture. Remarkably, it will remain the highest-ranking central processor in this next generation with 16 cores, which reflects the continuous development in computer performance.

These processors are the successor to the Ryzen 7000 series of processors known as Raphael, which are based on the Zen 4 architecture. It is noteworthy that the number of cores for the most powerful central processor of this next generation will remain 16 cores.

The latest leaks confirm that the Ryzen 9000 series of processors will be based on the Zen 5 architecture with a manufacturing accuracy of 4 nm from TSMC foundries, and will rely on the multi-chip design, which is the same design that we saw in the Ryzen 7000 series of processors known as Raphael.

It is also expected that Ryzen 9000 processors will be based on a CCD die or two CCD die, and AMD calls these processors Eldora. Each CCD die contains 8 Zen 5 cores, and AMD calls these cores Nirvana. These new processors will initially come with six cores and then will reach 16 cores within a lineup of Ryzen 9, Ryzen 7, and Ryzen 5 processors.

Each core will have a second-level cache of 1 MB, while a third-level cache of 64 MB will be shared with all cores. Regarding the integrated graphics processing unit (iGPU), it seems that AMD will rely on the RDNA 2 architecture but with an increased standard frequency.

These processors are also expected to be compatible with AMD's AM5 socket and will also be compatible with motherboards that use the 600 series chips. AMD is also said to be working on developing new chips for motherboards that are compatible with Ryzen 9000 processors.

The leaked image shows an engineering model allegedly from AMD and bearing the serial number OPN 100-000001290-11.

It should be noted that this number also appeared in the EinsteinHome database for distributed computing, as it was noted that the new processor includes 16 threads, which suggests that it is a processor that comes with 8 cores and 16 threads.

But the most important thing is the level of improvement that will occur in the internal communication between processes (IPC), that is, the number of instructions or commands that the processor is able to process during a single frequency pulse, as it is expected that IPC will improve by up to 10% and perhaps up to 15% with the Zen 5 architecture. Compared to the Zen 4 architecture. This increase means an improvement in the level of performance of central processors in games and programs.

Finally, AMD is expected to unveil the Ryzen 9000 series processors at COMPUTEX 2024. COMPUTEX 2024, the world-famous technology exhibition featuring AI applications for the Internet of Things and generative AI, will be held between June 4th and June 7th.
